Is Poor Hygiene the Cause of Acne?

Acne is a troublesome skin problem which can threaten the self esteem of any person at any time in life. More troublesome are the scars caused by acne. Acne may leave you for good but its scars will remain with you forever. No wonder people feel the way they do when they have acne. It is important for everyone to know the root cause of acne. Acne is mainly believed to be caused by hormonal changes in the body and bacteria on the skin. These are the two most known reasons of acne whereas dirt and poor hygiene is sometimes also held responsible for acne. In this topic we will discuss about poor hygiene and its relation with acne and try to find that whether poor hygiene is a cause of acne or not.
It is a general statement that dirt or poor hygiene has no relation with causing acne. This statement is true because poor hygiene and acne has been studied by many scientists and found no alarming situation which led to acne due to poor hygiene. Hygiene is important in all cases whether acne or not. Washing your face at least 2 times a day helps to cleanse your face. It also keeps the dirt off your face and keeps your face fresh and lively. Do not over wash your face as it can cause irritation on the skin. Always wash your face with a mild soap and rinse the soap properly to avoid dryness on skin.
Always use a mild lotion after washing your skin. It’s a common misunderstanding that you should not use moisturizers on acne skin. Whereas modern studies have shown that moisturizing your skin after washing it is important to prevent acne.
Hygiene may not be the cause of acne but it certainly helps to get rid of acne and to minimize the hazards of acne. Always take good care of your skin and make sure that you do not neglect the needs of your skin.
